Kenmore Elite Dryer Thermal Fuse Testing

If your dryer is not heating then you should test the thermal fuse thermal cutoff for continuity to see if it is good or bad.

Ensure to shut off electrical power to the dryer before. The image above shows the location of the thermal fuse. If the needle on your multimeter does not move your thermal fuse is blow. On an electric dryer if the thermal fuse is bad then the motor will not run.

The next time you try to start the dryer the motor won t run even though the dryer has power. Test the fuse with a multimeter. Once you understand how to tell if a thermal fuse is blown you can move onto the next step. The thermal fuse shuts down the dryer when it starts to overheat.
